And...the season's over. Go Flyers.

I tried to watch the Eagles/Cowboys game, honest I did. But I couldn't. It was just too horrifying. Guess that's what happens when after you whoop up on a team for like eight years, eventually they're gonna get back. I really don't even have much to say about it, the Eagles got outplayed in every facet of the game. And sitting at 3-5 with the road games at Washington, New England, Dallas, and New Orleans, a six win season might be too much to hope for this year. Barring something resembling last year's Garcia-led comeback, an occurrence that is appears highly unlikely at this juncture. So yeah, at least the Flyers don't look like utter garbage yet this year.

Back for more

So, the Eagles were victorious this week over the Minnesota Purple Jesuses, by a score of 23 to 16. Just goes to show how much Minnesota sucks, Brad Childress can't even beat a team he coached for seven years. Still, I'm not sure how the hell the Vikings put up 16 points when Adrian Peterson only put up 70 yards and they had to use their second and third quarterbacks, rejects from our Eagles and the NY Jest for this game. This doth not bode well for the defense's future. Kudos, however, to Trent Cole for a rare semblance of pass rush this week, with two (2!) sacks and to Reggie Brown for finally fucking getting open on a route.

After a much unnoticed hiatus, we're back following NFL week 8. And by we I mean me. And by hiatus I mean barely working and playing a crapload of Madden 06. Sure, I thought about buying Madden 08, but I have a kick ass Eagles franchise going on its 15th year in 06, so I'm not about to ditch it. In actual NFL news, the Eagles suffered a crippling loss to the Bears this week. You just know your defense is screwed when Brian Griese is torching you to the tune of 27/41 for 322 yards, 1 touchdown and zero interceptions, and can't be stopped when he's 97 yards from the endzone with 1 minute and 52 seconds left, and down by four points. The third Eagles game this year that's left me feeling sick. Go birds.

Week 4. Suckage.

Seriously though, that was as sorry an outing I've seen the birds give in quite a while. Years maybe Especially coming off the slaughter of the Lions last week, I expected better. And it wasn't just Justice either, I think three of Umenyiora's sacks didn't even involve him. Just a wreck of a game, and the real kick in the nuts is that looking at the scoreboard it seemed thing was winnable right up till the end, but the whole time you knew there wasn't going to be a comeback. Just to mention a couple other things that are sure to bite us in the ass going forward, a couple questions for coach Reid:
1- Can we turn down the penalties? Please, just a little, maybe?
2- Can we find someone that can cover Plexico Burress. He catches a TD every freaking time he plays us, usually on some Randy Moss-type jump ball. So lets just get someone in the secondary over 5'10" and cover him, how about that?
Good thing we have a bye next week. And the NY Jest the week after that.

Can I change my mind on that?

Tell me I didn't joke last week about getting a Winston Justice jersey. Please.

Shock: Phillies IN playoffs.

Yes, I'm shocked. The Phillies are in the playoffs. Granted, they're about to be up against either the stupid hot Rockies or the Padres trotting out Peavy, Young, and Maddux. So prospects of further advancement aren't terrific, but when the franchise's last playoff appearance was 14 years ago, and it involved the first come from behind World Series-ending home run, its just nice to back in the post season. Well, its good to be playing in October, I'm going to watch the games, have a beer, and enjoy it while it lasts.

Eagles, Week 3

Ok, that's more like it. Seven sacks by defensive linemen, McNabb 21 for 26 for 381 yards and 4 TDs, 110 rushing yards for Westbrook, and Kevin Curtis stepping up and looking like a legit starting receiver. Can't be happy with John Kitna throwing for 446 yards, 204 of those to Roy Williams, but with Lito Sheppard and Brian Dawkins not playing, some weakness in the secondary is expected. Most of my concerns of earlier this week have been addressed. I could complain, but it just sounds like nit picking when your team won by 35 points, so I'll stop.
